Good evening Mamba community,
It's almost January 1st.
You know what that means.
Another year of promises you probably won't keep.
Now, let me guess what's on your list…
"Train 5x per week consistently."
"Finally get that promotion."
"Wake up early and own my mornings."
"Be more disciplined."
“Finally ask out that girl.”
“Fix the relationship that’s hanging on a thread.”
Sound familiar? That's the same list from last January.
And what’s gonna happen is…
You'll be fired up for 2 weeks. Hit the gym hard. Meal prep. Wake up at 5:30 AM. Feel unstoppable.
Then February hits.
1 missed workout becomes 2. 1 snooze becomes 5. 1 cheat meal becomes a cheat week.
By March? Back to exactly where you were.
Same body. Same habits. Same patterns. Same you.
And deep down, you already know this is what's going to happen.
You've done this cycle enough times to recognize it.
So let me ask you…
Are you actually going to change this year? Or just feel good about the idea of changing?
Now here’s the truth that many comfortable people fail to realize…
New Year's resolutions fail because they're built on motivation, not systems.
Motivation gets you started. But it fades. Always.
By week 3, you're tired. Busy. "Don't feel like it."
And because you never built a system that works without motivation, you collapse.
The problem isn't you. It's your approach.
You're trying to become a new person using the same broken method.
Setting goals without changing identity.
Declaring what you want to do without becoming the type of person who does those things automatically.
That's why January 15th looks like December 15th. Different date. Same you.
But imagine this…
December 31st, 2025. You look back. You're unrecognizable.
You hit every training session. Not from motivation. Because that's who you became.
You woke at 5:30 AM daily. Not through willpower. Because your identity shifted.
Your body is different. Career is different. Relationship is different. Presence is different.
Not because you made resolutions. Because you rebuilt your foundation.
That version of 2025 is possible. But only if you do something different starting January 1st.
All you have to do is…
1. Stop setting goals. Start building identity.
"I want to train 5x per week" = goal. Requires constant motivation.
"I'm the type of man who trains 5x per week" = identity. Operates automatically.
2. Stop relying on motivation. Start engineering your environment.
Gym bag by the door. Alarm across the room. Eliminate decision fatigue.
Make the right choice easy. Make the wrong choice harder.
3. Stop going solo. Start building accountability.
You've tried the solo route for years. How's that working?
The guys who actually transform? They have someone who doesn't let them off the hook.
4. Stop thinking short-term. Start thinking identity.
Don't ask "What do I want to achieve?"
Ask "Who do I need to become to make this inevitable?"
Then become that person. Starting January 1st.
The reality is…
2025 can be the year everything changes. Or another year of the same.
The difference isn't luck. Not genetics. Not circumstances.
It's whether you're willing to do something different this time.
So what's it going to be?
Another year of broken promises and "next year I'll really do it"?
Or the year you finally became who you've been saying you want to be?
Make the choice now. Not "when you're ready." Not "when things settle down."
Now.
Because January 1st is coming whether you're ready or not.
Happy New Years,
Okello Luri
P.S. The version of you on December 31st, 2025 is either thanking you or resenting you for what you decide in the next 48 hours. Choose wisely.
